Global Positionning System¶
There are 4 types of systems designed for providing Worlwide Geolocation and 2 Regional systems:
- GPS : U.S. owned
- GLONASS : Russian owned
- Galileo : European Union owned
- BeiDou : Chinese owned
And the Regional systems :
- IRNSS (Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System) : Indian owned
- QZSS (Quasi-Zenith Satellite System) : Japanese owned

The GPS system is composed of 3 segments :
- Space Segment : The satellites
- Control Segment : The ground stations
- User Segment : The receivers
